Thread Thursday: CMA Best & Worst Dressed

””
.
We’re not going to sugarcoat anything this morning. Last night’s CMA’s made the worst dressed of the Oscar’s look like a cover spread for Vogue. Male country singers generally just look ridiculous, but in a forgivable, non-offensive way, so we’re going to ignore them for the purposes of this recap. The ladies of last night, however, looked a lot like they’d never seen an issue of Vogue and were instead taking their fashion cues from The Real Housewives of Somewhere Tacky.
.

Let’s start with the adorable Carrie Underwood, who we absolutely adore. She co-hosted for the fourth year in a row alongside Brad Paisely, and we think they did a great job. Carrie’s stylist, on the other hand, should be fired. Not every look was bad, but c’mon — not one of them should have been an eyesore. She’s hosting the event! This Kermit-colored dress is one of the least offensive of last night’s choices, in our opinion. She could have done without the matching makeup, though.

We’re a little speechless on this one. It’s like prom meets country meets ballet. No.

.
She looks so gorgeous in this gold sparkler that we can’t even snark on this one.

We feel our hands are tied on this peach – er – number, however. It’s just all kinds of wrong, but we hear no peacocks were harmed in the making of this dress.

Let’s move on from Carrie who did, at least, look beautiful and fresh throughout the evening. The woman pictured below, however, appears to have aged 15 years over the last few. Can you even guess who it is? We don’t want to be mean, but why does Ms. Kelly Pickler — who is also generally adorable — look so off? What have they done to her?!

To give sore eyes a little rest, we’re going to take a moment to throw in a gratuitous non-country-looking pic of hottie Kellan Lutz from last night. Are those pants leather? We don’t know, and we don’t care. Yum!

Here’s another sight for sore eyes — Erin Andrews. This dress isn’t winning any style awards, but she looks great in it and it’s something we can easily copy at home for, say, New Years Eve. Check Bebe for a similar look.

We’re a little torn on LeAnn’s look below. At first glance, it’s beautiful. But when you spend a little time with it, you start to wonder about the fabric — it looks uncomfortable, and is it sheer? We would have preferred to see a little more style to her hair, too. What do you think of LeAnn’s look?

All right, Ms. Laura Bell Bundy.  We don’t want to be the ones to tell you this, but Skating with the Stars is filming in another building. This is actually a gorgeous dress (bodysuit?), but we feel it’d be more appropriate over at MTV. That fact that we feel she’s walking around in her underwear makes us uncomfortable.

Poor Natasha Bedingfield. She had two looks last night and both, we’re hoping, were the work of some now-fired stylist. In this first photo, it looks as if she just popped over to the red carpet straight from her day job in an office building somewhere. Snooze.

.
The second look is more daring, but we feel that only Carrie Bradshaw can pull of this look and actually make us wish we wearing this dress. This just looks…wrong.

Here’s another example of a starlet who we feel never goes wrong…going wrong. Some people may like this Prabal Gurung dress. We are not among them. It looks like she’s being attacked by furry polka dots!

Let’s end on a high note, shall we? Faith Hill looks effortlessly gorgeous in this long white modest dress. We’d usually deem something like this ’safe’ and/or ‘boring’, but after all of the misses from last night’s carpet, Faith’s simple dress is a relief.
